On September 16, the University of CSULB Art Museum will offer a unique opportunity, including a visit to the Long Beach Marine Mammal Drilling Station (LBMDS) in the Pacific Ocean. Anyone who has ever been to the island knows that the island has been closed off to the public for security reasons in recent years.
This unique exhibition explores the construction of four oil rigs built in the 1950s and 1960s as part of the Long Beach Marine Mammal Drilling Station (LBMDS). It shows the transformation planned for Long Beach and the Riviera West, as planned by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Linesch used theme park ideas to enrich his fantasy landscape with oil rigs from Long Beachs. In addition to the LBMDS, Linesch also used a variety of theme park ideas in his Riviera West design, including the Los Angeles County Convention Center, the California Museum of Natural History and Santa Monica Pier.
Linesch and Reynolds worked on a fantasy environment that obscured the mechanical equipment of the oil rigs and visually linked the island to neighboring urban Long Beach. The result was a camouflage that used waterfalls, palm trees and shrubs against abstract, colorful concrete walls and 180-foot towers that were dramatically lit at night. Linesch was commissioned to design the landscape for an exhibition that included his work at the Los Angeles County Convention Center, the California Museum of Natural History, and the Santa Monica Pier. He also designed the LBMDS and his work for a number of other sites in the city.

There are woodchips and other mulches that you can easily get rid of if you decide to try something new in the yard. If you are interested in adding large boulders to your landscape, consider how they fit in and how to reconcile the aesthetic of your terrain with the landscape design when water conservation is the top priority.

Recognize that every lawn in Long Beach is different depending on how the grass grows, how the water is drained and other factors. While large boulders can play a big role in the garden, smaller varieties are the perfect ground cover. Mexican poppies, on the other hand, come in many shapes and colours, live harmoniously with the cactus and are excellent for large areas of fields.
