Long Beach boasts two art museums, The Long Beach Museum of Art and Museum of Latin American Art, which specializes in cutting-edge art from Mexico, Central and South America and the Spanish-speaking Caribbean.
In the East Village District, many shops and galleries feature the creations of the city's artistic community. On the last Saturday of each month, Linden Avenue between First and Broadway becomes an open-air art gallery and performance venue.
Created by artist Wyland as a gift to the city in 1992, Whaling Wall XXXIII: Planet Ocean is the world's largest mural at 116,000 square feet. It graces the exterior of the Long Beach Arena.
The Performing Arts center and the Center Theater are home to the International City Theatre Company, an award-winning group. The Terrace Theater hosts Broadway musicals, concerts and dance performances. Other venues and companies include The Long Beach Playhouse, Musical Theater West, the Edison Theater, Black Box Theater and The Found Theater.
